What Shopify Development covers

Most Shopify stores do not need a rebuild. They need a list of specific changes done properly: a section the theme does not have, a product page that behaves differently for one collection, an app that has to talk to another, a manual task that should run itself.

We build those changes on a copy of your theme, show you a preview, and publish only when you have approved it.

  • Theme customization

Changes to layout, product pages, collections and navigation that match your brand and stay editable in the theme editor.

  • Custom sections and templates

New sections, blocks and page templates built in Liquid so your team can reuse them without a developer.

  • Liquid and front-end fixes

Bugs, layout problems and broken behavior traced to the cause and fixed, not patched over.

  • App setup and integration

Apps installed, configured and styled to fit the theme, with leftover code from removed apps cleaned out.

  • Workflow automation

Repetitive tasks such as tagging, notifications and inventory rules automated with Shopify Flow and similar tools.

  • Speed and code cleanup

Unused scripts, oversized images and heavy app code identified and reduced so pages load faster.

Process

How the work runs

The same four stages every time, so you always know where things stand.

  1. Step 1: Scope

You describe the change. We confirm what is involved, what it touches and what done looks like.

  2. Step 2: Build on a duplicate theme

Work happens on an unpublished copy, so your live store is never the test environment.

  3. Step 3: Preview and review

You get a preview link, check it on desktop and mobile, and send back any changes.

  4. Step 4: Publish and hand over

We publish, re-check the live store and note what was changed and where to edit it.

Is this for you?

Who this service suits

A good fit if

  • You have a live Shopify store and a list of specific changes.
  • You want your team to be able to edit the result in the theme editor.
  • Someone on your side can review a preview and approve it.
  • You would rather fix the theme you have than start again.

Probably not the right fit if

  • You want changes pushed straight to the live theme with no review.
  • You need a complete brand and store design from a blank page with no brief.
  • You are not on Shopify and are not planning to be.

Common mistakes

What we see go wrong most often

  • Editing the live theme

One typo in a Liquid file can break the storefront for every visitor. A duplicate theme costs nothing and removes the risk.

  • Installing an app for every small feature

Each app adds scripts and a monthly fee. Many small features are a few lines of theme code instead.

  • Hard-coding content

Text and images written into the code mean every future edit needs a developer. Settings and blocks avoid that.

FAQ

Shopify Development questions

Will my changes survive a theme update?

We keep custom work in its own sections and snippets where possible, and document what was changed. Updating a customized theme still needs a careful merge, which we can do for you.

Which themes do you work with?

Any Online Store 2.0 theme, free or paid. We can also work on older themes, though for larger changes we will usually recommend moving to a current one first.

Can you make my store faster?

We can find and fix what is slowing it down in the theme, apps and media. We do not promise a specific speed score, because part of it depends on apps and content you may choose to keep.

How do you get access?

Through a Shopify collaborator request with only the permissions the job needs. You approve it and can remove it when the work is done.
