What is included
What Catalog & CSV Processing covers
Supplier files are rarely built for your store. Columns move, units change, variants are listed on separate rows or crammed into one cell, and the price is a cost that still needs your margin applied.
We turn those files into clean, import-ready product data using a documented mapping, test it on a sample, then run the full import. When the next file arrives, the same rules apply.
Supplier file cleanup
Inconsistent columns, units, encodings and duplicates corrected before anything touches the store.
Mapping to Shopify's format
Supplier fields mapped to the right Shopify fields, tags, metafields and product types, documented so it is repeatable.
Variants and options
Sizes, colors and other options grouped under the right parent product with correct SKUs and images.
Pricing rules
Your markup, rounding and compare-at rules applied consistently instead of by hand.
Inventory and price updates
Recurring updates that change only the fields that should change and leave the rest alone.
Checks before import
Validation and a sample import first, so errors are caught on ten products rather than ten thousand.
Process
How the work runs
The same four stages every time, so you always know where things stand.
Step 1: Review files and catalog
We look at your supplier files, your current products and how you want them organized.
Step 2: Build the mapping
Field mapping, pricing rules and naming conventions are written down and agreed.
Step 3: Test on a sample
A small batch is imported and checked on the storefront before the full run.
Step 4: Import and repeat
The full file goes in, with a backup export taken first. Later files follow the same process.
Is this for you?
Who this service suits
A good fit if
- You receive price lists or product feeds from suppliers as spreadsheets.
- Your catalog is large or changes often.
- Your products have variants that are painful to manage by hand.
- You want a repeatable process, not a one-time rescue.
Probably not the right fit if
- You have a handful of products that rarely change.
- You have no supplier data and need product details invented from scratch.
- You are looking for product photography or original long-form copy only.
Common mistakes
What we see go wrong most often
Importing without a backup
A bulk import can overwrite thousands of products in seconds. Export the current catalog first so there is something to restore.
Inconsistent handles and SKUs
If identifiers change between files, an update creates duplicates instead of editing the existing product.
Overwriting fields by accident
Including a column with blank cells can wipe data you wanted to keep. Updates should carry only the columns that are meant to change.
FAQ
Catalog & CSV Processing questions
What file formats can you work with?
CSV, Excel and Google Sheets are the usual ones. PDF price lists can be processed too, but they take longer and need closer checking.
Will an import overwrite my existing products?
Only where we intend it to. We export a backup first and control exactly which columns are included, so untouched fields stay untouched.
Can you handle recurring supplier updates?
Yes. Once the mapping exists, each new file follows the same steps, on whatever schedule your suppliers send them.
How large a catalog can you handle?
The process is the same for a few hundred products or many thousands. Larger catalogs simply take more checking, which is why every import starts with a sample.
